86. They have the parts – at last

Thursday 13 September 2007

I rang Bagdat at the Ford dealership on Thursday 13 September at 3.44 pm Almaty time and he informs me that they have the parts.

There is now another small hiccup.  It appears that the electrician who will need to fit the parts is working on another job – so we have to wait for him to finish the job before he can work on the Earthroamer.  We are desperately hoping that they will have the Earthroamer fixed as soon as possible.

When I received the information on the parts I was solo climbing to the base of a fantastic little peak called La Maya, which is south of Seon.  From Uncle Pete’s chalet you can look across and see this spectacular mini Balls pyramid.  I have always wanted to climb it – well, this morning I got to the bottom of the main part.  I borrowed Uncle Pete’s vehicle while Annie and Pip went shopping in Seon and Pete went to the dentist.  (Ugh!)

I drove up to the town of Mase to Suen, and then drove up a very narrow winding road and parked the vehicle at Prapouarbot.  I then climbed up to Lovegno.  In fact, a vehicle can be taken to Lovegno, and this puts a climber within a couple of kilometres of the peak.

There is magnificent scenery here.  Switzerland is beautiful.  Then again, we should be driving around the world!

Keep looking on the website and we will keep you posted.
